Bridge Making

Today class 9 have been researching different types of bridges. This afternoon they have split into groups to design their own bridge.

The design specifications:
  • the bridge must hold at least 100g
  • it must span the width of a school dinner tray
  • it must be free standing (meaning you can't hold it or support it to help it balance)
  • it must be between 15-20cm wide
On Monday class 9 will be building and testing their bridges.

Weekend Challenge
Over the weekend you need to collect material for your bridge. You also need to research the best way to build it. Keep us posted on how it is all going.

Good luck - Ms Turner

  1. Concentrate the sticky parts are the hardest they can make BIG mistakes. Also make sure you put the lid on the glue when finished because you can knock it over and it could make your model go wrong because it is too sticky.C.R

  3. I think it will be better to stick the bottom part of your bridge together with strong clear glue, string or double sided sticky tape. In my opinion, the best kind of bridge is made from curved trusses because it will be more stable. NB
